How do I set up Multi-factor Authentication?

Note:

This article is for setting up MFA for the first time outside the district.   For setting up MFA inside the district or before the MFA cutover, use the above "MFA instructions for above link".


Once Multi-Factor is turned on for your account, you will need to log on

go to https://login.microsoftonline.com

Enter Your Username...

Then Password...

Select No...

Choose the method you wish to use for MFA.  

Phone - Send an SMS to your phone with a code. (Not available where there is no cell signal)

Mobile App - Request shows up on phone, you click yes or no.  If no network is available, a code is generated and will be required for sign in.   

Mobile App - Use app with no notifications that generates a sign in code only. Can use google authenticator, or most other authenticator apps.

Authentication Phone:

Pick US and enter telephone number and click next...

Enter verification code and follow then next steps on web page.

Mobile App:

Select Receive notifications for verification and click Set Up.

Download the Mobile app

Google Android

iOS

Select to set up new account

Select set up new work or school account in the app, and select scan QR code. (shoot the QR code on your log in, not the one above)

Click yes in the request that just opened on your phone.

Mobile App other authenticator app (Google Authenticator, ETC)

Click use verification code and set up.

Click the "configure app without notifications"

Open your preferred Authenticator App and scan the barcode.  (Scan QR code on your login page, not the above example.)

Retrieve the code from the authenticator app, and enter it.
